Possum Kingdom Trail
Ouachita National Forest, Arkansas & Oklahoma
Length: Approximately 11 miles with many trail loop opportunities.
Directions: From Hot Springs, take Highway 7 north to Highway 298. Follow Highway 298 about 13 miles to the rifle range signs. Turn left and follow the road to the parking area.
Trail Information: Trail markings are white rectangles and carsonite signs. The route travels on a variety of road types including paved, gravel and unsurfaced.
Site Amenities: There are no developed facilities. Bring your own drinking water.
Difficulty Level: Easy to Difficult.
Safety: Watch for traffic. You will be sharing the road with motor vehicles.
Requirements: State laws govern the sections of trail along paved roads. Pack it in; pack it out.
Recommended Seasons: The trail is open year round but is especially pleasant during spring and fall.
Other Opportunities: The closest camping is at Cedar Fourche, Irons Fork, and Buckville Recreation Areas run by the Army Corps of Engineers.
